“La Galerie d’Architecture is an exhibition space located in the heart of the Marais area in Paris, a forum where people can meet, share information and exchange ideas on the theme of architecture and related fields. The gallery aims to further architectural debate and to provide inspiration and prompt reflection. This space offers an opportunity for all those receptive to the links between architecture, design and culture to keep up with the latest architectural productions.
Since its opening in 1999 La Galerie d’Architecture stands out for the quality of its program and has become a reference in the architectural scene by presenting the work of significant contemporary architects and young architectural offices which the gallery is particularly proud to encourage.
The gallery’s public includes a large selection of architects, interior designers, landscape architects, the architectural press, architecture schools, firms in the field of construction and interior design and developers and administrators participating in architecture and urban planning. Attached to the gallery space, the bookshop is a tranquil spot where you can browse through the latest magazines and books on architecture and design.”
An exhibition at La Galerie d’Architecture promotes the architect`s work widely through the gallery`s connections to international press, institutions and galleries throughout Europe.
The event has two essential parts; an exhibition and a magazine. The idea is to try to twist the traditional documentary architecture exhibition into a more contemporary and open minded platform for experiencing, reflecting and discussing architecture, in perspective of other contemporary disciplines of art and design.
Act with new air- the exhibition, reflects on some of the MMW’s wide range of work. Large scale canvases and small models, the office is showing representations of the fearlessness, challenges and passion that is the essence of mmw’s architecture. Over the years mmw architects of Norway has devoted their work to never let a challenge go by. For us not all great spaces are meant to last or to stay at the same spot forever. Some structures are just here to tell us something, to prove a point, to highlight a certain occasion or meet a certain need. Working with container architecture, like GAD, based on the temporary, mobile (non fundamental) and flexible spaces, to spectacular pneumatic structures, like Kiss the frog, mmw links the contemporary, the futuristic, as well as the non permanent.
Act with new air – the magazine, is divided into the same titles as the exhibition and holds a description of the projects that are exhibited. In addition the magazine also contains selected texts that link to the projects, mmw and people mmw has collaborated with or are inspired by – artists, designers, authors, architects and other individuals in one or another context. The articles discuss architecture and mobility / movement, fashion, art, photography, design etc.
