The section of trail that goes through Øygarden, Fjell and Sund, is rich in cultural heritage will act as a pilot for the national North Sea Trail and representing Norway in the international network of trails that winds around the North Sea basin. Hordaland County Council and the Cultural Landscape Centre, supports the work of the North Sea Trail in the region.

Program
“Luftskipet” is a mobile building and will showcase contemporary art when it is placed at a heritage. This will inspire thinking about the connections between past, present and future by making it visible through art expression and research. The artists have a central role in the development of the project, both through contributions and through interaction with the pilot project.

The goal is reflection around the monument and how it is relevant to the development both today and in the future, while the audience gets an opportunity to interpret contemporary art. The focus of the monument and a modern art arena will contribute to new reflections and experiences for people in the region and for those coming from the outside.

Through facilitation of activities in “Luftskipet”, it contributes to wealth creation that makes a sign that there’s anything that says. It is particularly in its design a contrast and can be viewed as a continuation of the monument is placed in context with.

The building serves as a social arena for interaction between arts and heritage that can inspire thinking about the connection between past, present and future by making it visible in new ways. In the long term “Luftskipet” will attract new visitors, art and culture enthusiasts and artists.
